From StarWars.com:

“Lucasfilm, ILMxLAB, and THE VOID today announced a new hyper-reality experience called Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, which promises to plunge fans into the Star Wars universe. Created by ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s immersive entertainment division, in collaboration with THE VOID, it will open to the public at two new VOID Experience Centers at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort beginning this holiday season. Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will allow fans to move freely in an untethered, social, and multi-sensory experience, including interaction with friends, fans, and Star Wars characters.

“At THE VOID, we combine the magic of illusions, advanced technology and virtual reality to create fully immersive social experiences that take guests to new worlds,” said Curtis Hickman, co-founder and chief creative officer at THE VOID. “A truly transformative experience is so much more than what you see with your eyes; it’s what you hear, feel, touch, and even smell. Through the power of THE VOID, guests who step into Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire won’t just see this world, they’ll know that they are part of this amazing story.

“At ILMxLAB, we want people to step inside the worlds of our stories,” explained Vicki Dobbs Beck, executive in charge of ILMxLAB. “Through our collaboration with THE VOID, we can make this happen as guests become active participants in an unfolding Star Wars adventure. By combining Lucasfilm’s storytelling expertise with cutting-edge imagery, and immersive sound from the team at Skywalker Sound, while invoking all the senses, we hope to truly transport all those who experience Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire to a galaxy far, far away.””

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Revealed as Name of Star Wars Lands in Disney Parks and More

From StarWars.com:

“Today at D23, Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, announced that the highly-anticipated Star Wars-themed land will be called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts in 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will allow guests to visit a remote trading port “on the edge of wild space,” while promising a truly immersive experience.

According to Chapek, the lands will emphasize living your own Star Wars adventure. Indeed, two major attractions will put guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

As detailed on the Disney Parks Blog, one attraction — the biggest in scale ever at Disney Parks — will make you feel like you’re in the hangar of a Star Destroyer.

The second attraction will have you in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters, and getting ready to make the jump to lightspeed. Your performance in the adventure will have repercussions: do well and you’ll earn extra credits; dent the iconic ship, and you can end up on a bounty hunter’s list. You can view concept are for each attraction below.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will also feature several Star Wars characters, including BB-8, Chewbacca, First Order officers, and many more. A well-known Disney Parks droid is heading for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, as well: Rex, the pilot from Star Tours, will be the DJ at the cantina — where you’ll order blue milk and other galactic concoctions.

In addition, Chapek also announced plans for a Star Wars-themed resort at Walt Disney World. “It’s unlike anything that exists today,” Chapek said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story. You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100-percent immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

Disney Parks Unveils the Star Wars-Inspired Land Model

From Disney Parks Blog:

“As we’ve previously shared, two Star Wars-inspired lands are currently under construction at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

Tonight, we’re happy to pull back the curtain and give you the first detailed look at the model of this new land, which will be on display this weekend at the 2017 D23 Expo.

Both Star Wars-inspired lands will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before Wild Space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.

Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two signature attractions: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
